The Living Horizon SocietyOur principles

What holds us together.

A shared purpose needs clear commitments. These are the principles we want our community—and our conduct—to reflect.

A common foundation.
Room to be yourself.

These principles give our shared concern for life a practical shape. They do not require agreement on every political, cultural, or religious question. They ask us to treat one another with the dignity our purpose demands.

01

Life across every border

The value of an innocent life does not change with a passport, a faith, a language, or a political label. Our concern must reach beyond the people most familiar to us.

In everyday lifeAsk whose humanity is missing from a conversation—and bring it back.
02

Unity without conformity

We can stand together without becoming the same. Culture, faith, identity, and independent thought belong in a community built on shared humanity.

In everyday lifeListen for common ground without demanding that another person surrender their story.
03

Friendship before pressure

Trust grows through care, honest conversation, and the freedom to ask difficult questions. A person is more than a number in a movement.

In everyday lifeMake room for understanding before asking for agreement.
04

Peaceful in purpose and practice

The way we act must protect the life and dignity we say we value. Love cannot become a justification for threats, violence, theft, cheating, sabotage, or damage.

In everyday lifeChoose conduct that reflects the future you want to help create.
05

Participation is freely chosen

Belonging does not remove the right to disagree, decline, step back, or leave. No one should be pressured into a commitment they have not chosen.

In everyday lifeRespect a clear no. Invite rather than coerce.
06

Belonging is always free

Membership is and always will be 100% free. A community for shared humanity must not put a price on a person’s place within it.

In everyday lifeNever make payment, a purchase, or a donation a condition of belonging.
A promise worth keeping

Disagreement does not
cancel dignity.

Our purpose is to protect people, including those who disagree with us. The strength of a peaceful community is measured in how carefully it treats the people it could most easily dismiss.

Our only current invitation

The horizon starts with us.

At this time, we are only building membership. Joining is always 100% free. Joining alone is enough; we are not running campaigns or asking members to take collective action.
